Stretching after Liposuction

Stretching after Liposuction

Recovery after body liposuction requires a delicate balance between rest and gentle movement to promote healing and flexibility. Gentle stretching exercises can be a beneficial part of your recovery process, aiding in reducing stiffness, enhancing circulation, and facilitating a more comfortable and quicker recovery. Before starting any stretching or exercise regimen, it's imperative to consult with your healthcare provider to ensure these movements align with your personalized recovery plan. Below is a gentle stretching regimen tailored for individuals recovering from body liposuction. Avoid sitting on you buttock after BBL procedure unless approved but your surgeon.

Warm-Up:
Start with a 5-10 minute warm-up of light walking in place to get your blood flowing.

Stretching Routine:

1. Neck Stretch:
- Sit or stand comfortably.
- Gently tilt your head to the right, bringing your ear towards your shoulder until a gentle stretch is felt on the left side of your neck.
- Hold for 15-30 seconds and switch sides.

2. Shoulder Rolls:
- Sit or stand comfortably.
- Slowly roll your shoulders forward in a circular motion for 5-10 rounds.
- Repeat the motion but in a backward direction for another 5-10 rounds.

3. Arm Stretch:
- Extend your right arm across your body.
- Use your left hand to press your right arm closer to your chest until a gentle stretch is felt across the outside of your shoulder.
- Hold for 15-30 seconds and switch sides.

4. Cat-Cow Stretch (if comfortable and approved by your doctor):
- Get on your hands and knees in a tabletop position.
- Arch your back, dropping your head down (Cat pose).
- Then, dip your back down, lifting your head and tailbone up (Cow pose).
- Repeat this sequence for 5-10 rounds.

5. Seated Hamstring Stretch:
- Sit on the floor with your legs extended.
- Hinge at your hips and lean forward gently until a stretch is felt at the back of your thighs.
- Hold for 15-30 seconds.

6. Quad Stretch:
- Stand near a wall or chair for balance.
- Bend your right knee, bringing your heel towards your buttocks.
- Hold your right ankle with your right hand, gently pulling it closer to your body until a stretch is felt in the front of your thigh.
- Hold for 15-30 seconds and switch sides.

7. Seated Forward Bend:
- Sit on the floor with your legs together and extended in front of you.
- Hinge at the hips and gently lean forward with a straight back until a stretch is felt in your lower back and the back of your legs.
- Hold for 15-30 seconds.

8. Ankle Rolls:
- Sit comfortably, extending your legs.
- Roll your ankles clockwise for 5-10 rounds, then counter-clockwise for another 5-10 rounds.
Cool Down:
Finish your stretching session with another 5-10 minutes of walking or marching in place to maintain a good blood flow and gently return your heart rate to its resting pace.
